Camp Habitat 2017: Honing the Craft

Join us for a mountain getaway with your peers!

Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina will host nearly 300 staff, board members, and volunteers representing 68 affiliates in North Carolina as well as some from neighboring states. Lake Junaluska provides the perfect backdrop for three days of training, workshops, networking and fun.

Highlights of the main conference include a keynote by Boris Henderson on Wednesday morning. Some of you may have heard Boris’ inspired talk at the Global Conference in Atlanta. We will also host with HFHI a plenary on The Collaborative Operating Model, together with a potential new service model for the SSO. We urge you to come and be a part of those important conversations that will shape the future of service delivery and affiliate sustainability.

We will offer concentrations (three or more sessions) in HR; nonprofit and Habitat finances; board governance; fundraising; and ReStore. As usual, we will have the latest on advocacy efforts both nationally and statewide, MPAR, options for mortgage origination and servicing, a presentation on HFHI’s Capacity Guide for Affiliates, the latest on FlexCap and more. Construction personnel will be interested in the range of sessions on critical repair, environmental and aesthetically pleasing building with an eye towards savings for the homeowner and a roundtable on how to schedule a house; how to effectively use volunteer labor and more. Watch this space for more specific details as they emerge.

Finally, don’t miss out on opportunities to relax and connect as we host an ED listening session at the lake and at BooJum’s Brewery in the nearby and picturesque town of Waynesville. Come early and make a vacation out of it!
