Participating in advocacy on a state and local level has never been easier! In 2020 we’re expanding our statewide “Legislative Day” into a “Week of Action” March 9th-13th and bringing it from Raleigh to your own backyard. To take part in Habitat NC’s Week of Action, you just need to do three things:
Call your local and state legislators and set up a meeting in their local office sometime during Legislative Week, March 9th-13th, 2020. Let Habitat NC know you’ve made your appointment by following this link or emailing email@example.com.
Meet with your legislators during the Week of Action and talk to them about why Affordable Housing matters to you. We’ll be providing you with talking points based on Habitat’s Statewide Advocacy Agenda.
Follow up on the meetings with an email to the people you meet with and fill out a quick report on how your meeting went for Habitat NC. We’ll compile the reports to have a record of all the meetings across the state and what was discussed.
We’re so excited to have you join us for a statewide week of advocacy! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Sara Thompson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please remember to let us know about the meetings you schedule, so we can keep track of the impact Habitat affiliates are making across the state! Follow this link to keep us updated!
Print out a copy of this leave-behind to give to your legislators and officials when you meet with them.
Feel free to use this press release template to let your local news outlets know that your affiliate is participating in the Week of Action. Fill out the areas highlighted in yellow to make the press release your own.
